Developed in 2016, Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE) is an abbreviated form of Parent Child Interaction Therapy. This 7 session dyadic treatment program was designed for families that are interested in improving caregiver-child relationships and are willing to learn new child behavior management strategies. In this webinar, Dr. Alex King will share why PC-CARE was developed and some of the outcomes from research on this new intervention. Additionally, participants will learn about the core components of the PC-CARE model including experiential practice with the skills of PC-CARE.

Dr. Alexandria King is a Clinical Lead at the East Hawaii Family Guidance Center in Hilo, where she completed both her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship. She earned her Psy.D. from Alliant International University Sacramento campus in May of 2021. As part of her graduate training, Dr. King completed her 2018 practicum with the UC DAVIS CAARE Center where she was initially trained in PC-CARE. After her one year practicum experience, she was able to stay on with the CAARE Center to continue providing PC-CARE to foster youth in the Sacramento community. She is now both a certified provider and trainer of PC-CARE therapy and has been fortunate enough to bring this modality to Hawaii.
