Pamela J Pine, PhD, MPH, is an international public health/development professional, professor, and the Founder and Former CEO of Stop the Silence®: Stop Child Sexual Abuse, Inc. (Stop the Silence®, https://www.ivatcenters.org/stop-the-silence ), which, as of January 1, 2021, is Stop the Silence® - A Department of the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT). Pamela began working on child sexual abuse (CSA), other adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and related issues of interpersonal violence and trauma in the year 2000. The focus of the Stop the Silence® Department is to prevent, expose, and CSA, ACEs, and related forms of interpersonal violence and trauma and help survivors heal worldwide. The Department carries out the work on CSA and other ACEs and trauma in close collaboration with government, non-profit, for-profit, and community-based groups through evidence-based, creative, and impactful programs that are carried out locally, nationally, and internationally. Pamela developed and has tested a workable CSA/ACE prevention/mitigation model adaptable for use in any country in the world and led by local presence.

Pamela’s current and past work has focused on designing, developing, managing, implementing, and providing technical assistance to a wide range of health and related programs (e.g., awareness-raising/advocacy, training, community outreach and education, community mobilization, media outreach, social marketing, policy development) concentrated on enhancing the lives of the poor and otherwise underserved groups for over 30 years. She has worked and/or presented on numerous specific areas (e.g., reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, leprosy, TB, immunization, nutrition, maternal/child health, CSA and other interpersonal violence, microenterprise) throughout the world (e.g., Albania, Botswana, Congo (DRC), Cyprus, Ecuador, Egypt, EU including the UK, Haiti, Hungary, India, Italy, Jordan, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, South Africa, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United States, Yemen, Zambia). She is considered an expert in CSA and trauma prevention and mitigation including the at-risk nature of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), sex trafficking, and related issues like suicidality. She is called upon by TV, radio and magazines to provide expert input on a regular basis. She speaks Arabic and French.

Pamela currently: runs the Stop the Silence® Department at IVAT; speaks internationally on CSA and related issues; provides assistance to national/international health/development programs and projects; and teaches public health at the university Masters’ and Baccalaureate levels. She was honored in 2017 with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Advocacy from IVAT.

Pamela is on the Board of the National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence (NPEIV) and on the Advisory Committee of the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT) in San Diego, CA. She is a member of Zonta International. In her off-time, Pamela spends time with family and friends; paints, sings, reads, and gardens for pleasure; and is involved in various types of physical exercise.
